The Thrill of Love
'Will you call the police, Clive?'
10th April 1955.
The Magdala pub.
South Hill Park, London.
David Blakely lies dead in the road. Over him stands his lover with an empty gun in her hand; nearby, his bewildered friend, Clive Gunnell, who, just minutes before, was drinking with him in the pub.
Barely three months later, on 13th July 1955, Ruth Ellis became the last woman to be hanged for murder in the United Kingdom.
Should she have died for what she did?
HumDrum return to The Spring this March with Amanda Whittington's The Thrill of Love - an exploration of Ruth's life in the lead-up to that April night and of the motives and motivations that carried her to The Magdala.
